November is the month of intentional thankfulness. This November we are especially thankful because, thanks to adoption, our girl is here to stay!
Adoption is very bittersweet. Our gain is someone’s loss. A biological mom, no matter how supportive she is of the adoption, is hit with sorrow on adoption day. Despite our great joy on adoption day, we are very aware of the sadness that the bio mom is dealing with, and we try to be sensitive to that. It speaks of the love they have for their child, it’s healthy and good for them to feel sad. But we are so thankful that our bio moms have all told us in one way or another, “If I can’t have my child, I want you to have them.” Friends, we know that this is not always the story, we feel very blessed to have this kind of relationship!
Below is a brief documentation of the day…
Adoption is full of ups and downs, there is a hardness to adoption that these kids will need to process. But despite all that, adoption is a celebration! We celebrate that arrival of the child into our family, just as if they had been born to us. Each life that God brings into our family is a gift, a gift worth celebrating!
